According to the representatives from China and the Association of Southeast Asia nations, the initiative may now be maximized beyond connectivity through the implementation of green energy projects.
In addition, they made the remarks on Monday in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, during the opening ceremony of a forum hosted by the Beijing-based ASEAN-China center.
Furthermore, Shen Yueyue, Vice Chairwoman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, said that landmark projects have not only benefited local residents/ but also played a pivotal role in narrowing regional development gaps and promoting economic integration of the region.
Besides, Shi Zhongjun, Secretary-General of the ASEAN-China center, emphasized the need for low-carbon and green development for the region’s sustainable and high-quality economic growth.
Lastly, he emphasized the need for cooperation in areas such as green infrastructure, green energy, and green development, saying that effective dialogue mechanisms are being established to facilitate discussions between stakeholders in ASEAN and China regarding this issue.
