Finland Named World's Happiest Country for 7th Year in a Row

SEAToday.com, Jakarta - Finland is the happiest country in the world for the seventh year in a row, according to the annual World Happiness Report 2024 released Wednesday (3/20) by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network. The happiness ranking is based on six indicators of life satisfaction, including GDP per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom, generosity, and perceived corruption.

Jennifer De Paola, a happiness researcher at the University of Helsinki in Finland, said that the Finns' close relationship with nature and a healthy work-life balance were key factors influencing people's life satisfaction.

Meanwhile, Singapore remains the happiest country in Asia for the second year running, ranking 30th in the world. Indonesia ranks sixth in Southeast Asia and 80th in the world. (DHITA/ DKD)
