SEAToday.com, Jayapura-Indonesian weightlifting legend Raema Lisa Rumbewas passed away on Sunday (1/14). Lisa took her last breath at the Jayapura Hospital, Papua, at 3 a.m. local time.
"As the General Chair of the Central Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) and representing the achievement sports community, I express my condolences," said KONI Chairman Lt. Gen. Retired Marciano Norman.
"Hopefully the late Lisa will have a noble place in the side of God, who is Most Gracious, and her services as the Sports Patriot will always be remembered, and motivate Indonesian lifters to achieve world achievements," he continued.
As an athlete, Lisa won three Olympic medals for Indonesia. Lisa became one of the pioneers of Indonesia's Olympic weightlifting team, which successfully won silver medals at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and the 2004 Athens Olympics and a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
