SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs (Kemenko PMK) announced that Kebaya, Kolintang, and Reog have been nominated for United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) cultural heritage status.

According to Andre Notohamijoyo, Assistant Deputy for Cultural Promotion and Preservation at Kemenko PMK, Ponorogo's dance performance Reog, North Sulawesi's musical instrument Kolintang, and traditional attire Kebaya are currently under consideration by UNESCO. He also mentioned that the proposal for kebaya was submitted as a joint nomination with four other countries.

Andre explained that the decisions are expected to be made around August or September 2024, in a UNESCO session.

Previously in 2023, UNESCO certified two cultural heritages from Indonesia, namely The Cosmological Axis of Yogyakarta and Its Historic Landmarks and Jamu Wellness Culture.
