SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU), Hasyim Asy'ari on Wednesday (1/31), said that residents are allowed to bring phones to the voting booths, but are prohibited to take photos and videos.

"Carrying a phone is allowed, but recording is prohibited. Later at the polling station, we will make a call if the Voting Organizing Groups tell voters not to take photos and videos of their choices," said Hasyim Asy'ari.

In addition, the KPU Chairman also reminded Indonesian citizens abroad not to upload their votes as it could violate one of the election principles, namely confidentiality.

"We have called on the Overseas Voting Organizing Group, Indonesian citizens abroad, after voting they do not need to have their photos taken, then uploaded and shared. First, it violates the principle of confidentiality. Second, if the situation goes viral, clarification is also a bit difficult," He said.
