SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The General Election Commission (KPU) Chairman, Hasyim Asy'ari, emphasized that Indonesian citizens performing Umrah pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia on February 14 would not participate in the general election.
This was because the election in Saudi Arabia would be held earlier, on February 9. In addition, the Jeddah Overseas Election Committee (PPLN) will only provide ballots according to the number of Indonesian citizens registered in the Permanent Voters List of Saudi Arabia (DPTLN).
Based on the registered votes, the number of Indonesian citizens registered in the DPTLN in Saudi Arabia is 54,479 people. The KPU also prepares replacement ballots, but only two percent of the number of voters in the DPTLN are available for Indonesian citizens who are not registered.
