President Joko Widodo Launches Ancol Sentiong Water Pump Station, The Biggest in Indonesia!
President Joko Widodo launched the Ancol Sentiong Water Pump Station, in North Jakarta.

SEAToday.com, Jakarta-On Monday (11/12), President Joko Widodo launched the Ancol Sentiong Water Pump Station, in North Jakarta. The water pump station was built to prevent flood in Jakarta, which has been the capital city's long-running problem.

The Ancol Sentiong Water Pump is Indonesia's biggest water pump station, which is placed at the downstream level in Jakarta. The development cost 481 billion rupiahs, and it is expected to solve the Jakarta flood, in seven subdistricts, including Pademangan, Senen, and Johar Baru. 

“In the upstream, we have finished two dams, which are Ciawi and Sukamahi. Both reduced floods in Jakarta. Then, the canal in Ciliwung was also finished. We also continue Ciliwung River normalization which is only 17 kilometers left”, said President Joko Widodo. With the completion of upstream, middle stream, and downstream, it is expected that the Jakarta flood could decrease by around 62 percent.

It its launch, President Widodo was accompanied by Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Minister Hadi Tjahjanto and Jakarta Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono.
