SEAToday.com, Paris - The Eiffel Tower in Paris, France has now reopened for public visits on Sunday (25/2/2024).
Usually, the Eiffel Tower can be visited by tourists every day without exception. But since Monday (19/2/2024), one of the world's tourist destinations has not received visitors due to a labor strike.
This action was the result of a mismatch in wages received by workers at the Eiffel Tower with the number of incoming ticket sales. The Paris city government is also suspected of charging exorbitant rental rates so that funds for tower maintenance are cut.
Reporting from RFI, SETE as the operator of the Eiffel Tower has agreed with the workers' union on Saturday (24/2/2024). This agreement includes management's efforts to meet workers more regularly every six months to facilitate follow-up regarding wages and other matters.
The next step that SETE will take is to increase ticket prices by 20% to €29.40 euros or around IDR495.000. This rate is for tourists who want to climb to the top of the Eiffel Tower using the elevator, and for those who are halfway up using the stairs the rate will be adjusted.
SETE also apologized for the inconvenience to tourists who visited during the strike. Because it is known that the Eiffel Tower lost 100 thousand visitors this week.
