SEAToday.com, Istanbul - One of Turkey’s iconic historical buildings, Hagia Sophia, is a must-see when traveling to Istanbul. However, as of January 15, foreign tourists are charged 25 euros or around 425 thousand rupiahs to enter the mosque.
The ticket allows tourists to access an open tunnel without disturbing prayers. In addition, the pass will also give access to the upstairs gallery and museum that has become a magnet for tourists.
Furthermore, visitors will be able to get information about the Hagia Sophia in 23 languages through a headset system that may be accessed through a QR code application from their mobile phones.
Previously, Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy had announced this policy on October 31, 2023. During a press conference, Ersoy stated: “There will be no changes for those visiting the mosque for regular worship purposes. What we are altering is the entrance point for foreign nationals who visit for tourism and cultural reasons”.
