SEAToday.com, Hanoi-On Monday (1/22), a Vietnamese court sentenced nine individuals to death and two others to life in prison for their involvement in a cross-border drug trafficking organization.

Moreover, following a three-day trial a court in central Nghe An province condemned mastermind, Tran Thi Mau and eight accomplices to death. In addition, the two others who were in the same drug trafficking case were given life sentences.

They were found guilty of trafficking 105 kg of methamphetamine and heroin from Laos to Vietnam between 2021 and early 2022 when the ring was busted.

Hence, according to the Vietnamese court report the drugs were transported during the night to avoid police detection.

Back in November, a court in Ho Chi Minh City sentenced to death 18 persons including two South Korean and Chinese citizens in a transnational case where they were convicted of trafficking 216 kilograms of heroin from Cambodia to Vietnam in 2020. (KEISHA/ALVIN)
